lianne + vishal: same day film // washington dc

We recently had the opportunity to be a part of a unique and special event and are excited to share it with you! Lianne and Vishal come from different cultures that celebrate weddings and events in very different ways. Lianne’s family is from Georgia, where they are accustomed to traditional Southern Christian weddings. While Vish’s family, who is originally from Florida, is Indian and their wedding celebrations are often several days long, filled with vibrant colors and various rituals and ceremonies. Most family members of each side had never experienced the celebrations of the other, so this was more than a wedding: it was the merging of two cultures in celebration of one love.

This piece was a Same Day Edit in collaboration with our friends at Merge Social which means this film played at the reception at the end of the night. It was a real challenge to film two ceremonies in one day and put it all together by the end of the night, but this awesome couple made it all worth it. They put so much of themselves into their wedding and made sure to honor each other’s cultures. Their reaction to the film was heartfelt and emotional (we even got more than a little choked up!) and we hope you’ll love it, too!

agus + danny // captiva, fl

Agus and Danny are two incredible people with two amazing families who we’ve had the pleasure of documenting in the past when we filmed Agus’ sister’s wedding in 2011. We can only say that attending this couple’s wedding was like attending the wedding of a relative…we felt like we knew everyone there! There’s so much that we can say about the Galmarini family: they throw insane, till’ 3:00 in the morning weddings, they are super warm and friendly, they root for the Fighting Irish and they certainly have penchant for the name Maria (all 4 Galmarini sisters are named Maria!). But what we love and admire most is the honest love that this family shares and the amount of love that they have for Agus and Danny. This was especially evident in that the 3 Marias couldn’t get through their speeches without crying!

But once you get to know this fantastic couple, it’s easy to understand the happy tears. They are gracious, down to earth people with a great sense of humor who are trying leave the world better than how they found it. Agus has spent time volunteering for the AmeriCorps, while Danny returned from a tour in Afghanistan not too long before their wedding. They met while at Norte Dame and dated for nearly 10 years before we had the honor of capturing this special moment in their lives.

As we mentioned, this family has hosted some legendary weddings, and they always trust the amazing Jackie Ohh to plan out their fantastic events. Jackie certainly did not disappoint, planning a rustic and elegant beach-side affair in Captiva Island, off the west coast of Florida. The energetic band, Libido also made sure that the Galmarinis and Wards partied until their feet gave out. It was a truly beautiful wedding for a very deserving couple!

We are very thankful to Agus, Danny and their awesome families for sharing their happiest moments with us! We share in your joy and wish you many blessings in your marriage!

erin + travis // miami, fl

Erin and Travis are a gorgeous and adventurous duo who have traveled all over the world and called various continents their home. After meeting in Chicago a little over 5 years ago, they spent much of their time together eating fantastic meals across the globe and documenting their travels with Travis’ camera always by his side. They were living in San Francisco when they decided to celebrate their wedding at the stunning Vizcaya Museum in one of their favorite destinations, Sunny Miami. They love South Florida so much that they’ve since relocated here!

Our journey with this couple started early last year when we created a unique Save the Date film to entice their guests from all over the world to come to Miami for their nuptials. We are proud to say that it worked: their wedding day was filled with family and friends from near and far, and the love and energy from the guests could be felt throughout the day.

From beautiful personalized vows to their show-stealing Maltese Jack strutting down the aisle, Erin and Travis’ wedding was abundant in unique touches and elegant style. We are incredibly thankful to Erin and Travis for allowing us to share in this special moment in their lives, and we wish them lots of love, happiness and amazing travels!

ruchi + trushar // washington dc

Out of the various types of events we film through out the year, Indian weddings are among our favorite to document because they are rich in unique customs and lots of joy and celebrating. Plus, you can always count on a gorgeous couple, too!
Ruchi and Trushar’s wedding overqualified in every sense! This wedding was such an amazing experience for us for many reasons. Firstly, we had the great opportunity to film the wedding in our Nation’s Captiol of Washington, D.C. In fact, one of my favorite parts of the day was during the groom’s procession (the Baraat) where Trushar lead a couple hundred guests down Constitution Avenue on horseback. I overheard some tourists saying that he looked like a prince! Using a city with so much American history as a backdrop to explosions of color and culture was unique and great to witness. This wedding was very special to us because anytime you can document amazing and good-hearted people whose families you are happy to see unite, it makes your job all the more sweeter. Ruchi and Trushar have a very strong connection with their families. Ruchi has an unshakeable bond with her sister and Trushar is incredibly close to his brother. It is these strong connections that make happy days (like their wedding day) more joyful, and also help Ruchi and Trushar get through during difficult times. Ruchi’s father, Dr. Jai, is the only living parent remaining between this couple, but the love and spirit from those who have passed was certainly felt through the night. We are sure that they couldn’t be prouder of the amazing people that Ruchi and Trushar have become.

We thank the Gupta’s and Dungarani’s for having us at this incredible event. It was truly unforgettable. Enjoy their highlight!

ali + marcus: save the date

We recently had the awesome opportunity of shooting a Save the Date film for our friends, Ali & Marcus, who will be taking the plunge this coming February in Islamorada, Florida.
You may remember this great couple from their engagement in the clouds that we featured this past Summer. Having already conquered the skies, we were excited to create a film that captures Ali and Marcus’ love of the sea. One of their favorite activities to enjoy together is taking Marcus’ boat out on Key Biscayne and going snorkeling with their water-loving English Springer Spaniel, Albus. We’ve never seen a dog so excited to go swimming! He was jumping out of the boat and doing laps around it, when it occurred to us to strap a camera on his back, and thus AlbusCam was born! It was great to see things from his perspective, and after testing the camera, we now know that Mr. Belvedere can finally go on wedding shoots with us! This film was a blast to shoot, and we are grateful to Ali and Marcus for having us document this exciting time in their lives. Enjoy the film, and stay tuned for the next chapter in their story, coming in 2013…but this time, on land! 🙂

meredith + giacomo // coral gables, fl

Meredith and Giacomo like to dance. Meredith grew up around ballet and the couple shared an impromptu salsa dance on the night they met. It’s only fitting then, that they would organize a choreographed dance number with their bridal party to surprise their wedding guests at their reception. Their day was full of emotion, both fun and sentimental with gift exchanges, the first time they saw each other and (of course) dancing. Meredith and Giacomo are the kind of couple who have all of the traits for a long happy life together. They’re as smart as they are in love, generous and just the right amount of goofy. We loved getting to know this awesome couple and are happy to share their highlight with you. Enjoy!

jessica + eric // miami beach, fl

We are thrilled to present to you the highlight of Jessica & Eric’s happy and fun-filled Miami Beach wedding! We, by no means, are exaggerating when we say happy…this couple couldn’t seem to go more than five minutes without beaming big smiles at one another. Seeing them interact with each other and their families was such a joy to see, that I often caught myself smiling while editing their film!

I learned that, even during college football season, with the intense rivalry between the Florida Gators and Georgia Bulldogs (she went to UF and he’s a UGA alum), they still manage to get along and make each other laugh. In addition to all the laughter, their wedding also had some of the best dance skills we’ve ever seen! While attending UGA, Eric was in a hip-hop dance group and brought his talents to South Beach to surprise Jessica with a choreographed dance, featuring a medley of different songs. The look on Jessica’s face (especially when N*SYNC came on) was priceless!

We feel truly honored to have been a part of such a special moment in Jessica & Eric’s lives, and we thank them and their families for having us there! We hope you enjoy your film!

jess + russ // san francisco, ca

We’re excited to share with you the highlight film from Jess and Russ’ bi-coastal wedding. Jessica is a lauded letterer and illustrator who’s work has graced magazines, book covers and even a USPS stamp, while Russ is a designer for a social website called Facebook (you may have heard of it). We have been big fans of this talented and creative duo’s work for quite some time, but we were truly inspired by their awesome wedding website and knew we had to tell their story. As you can tell by their film, there is a large amount of love between them and their excitement to be married was pretty contagious. We really couldn’t be happier for them!

Jess and Russ wanted to celebrate their wedding in the two cities than mean very much to them: Brooklyn, where they met and built their first home together and San Francisco, where they currently reside with their cats, Billy and Olive. They decided on a very intimate ceremony at San Francisco’s beautiful City Hall followed by a pot-luck picnic with a few friends at Dolores Park. Their reception was a week later in Brooklyn, where they recited their vows and partied with 300 of their closest family and friends.

We feel truly honored to have met this amazing couple and their families and thank them for having us tell their story. Enjoy the film!

frances + david // miami, fl

We are happy to present to you the wedding highlight of Frances and David’s beautiful Villa Woodbine wedding!
This couple’s love was truly “written in the stars”, as they say. After meeting each other at a New Year’s eve celebration, they were so wrapped up in enjoying each other’s company and ringing in the New Year, that they forgot to exchange phone numbers. But luckily, the Universe always knows how to right itself. They were serendipitously reunited a short while later, when they both signed up for a popular compatibility site and were matched up right away. They started dating, fell in love and were engaged 7 months later.

The Universe indeed operates in mysterious ways, but there are no concidences…what is meant to be, is meant to be, particularly in matters of the heart. Frances and David are a great example of this. We are truly honored to have been a part of their day, and to witness their love for each other, while working along side our friends, Maloman Photographers and Junior’s Entertainment.

Frances and David, may this film always remind you of the great love you share. Enjoy!

ali + marcus: engaged

After a nice, long Summer break, our blogging vacation has now come to an end! During this time we’ve been busy working on lots projects and stories and we can’t wait to share them with all of you!

The first story we would like to share with you is Ali and Marcus’ engagement film. Ali and Marcus are an awesome, fun-loving couple that we are very proud to call our friends. This film meant a lot for us to document, particularly for Ursula, who has worked with and been great friends with Ali for over 5 years.

Knowing that Marcus was getting ready to pop the question soon, and that he wanted to create a custom wedding ring for Ali, we asked him if he would allow us to film the process. We were intrigued by seeing this universal symbol of marriage, a wedding ring, being hand-crafted from scratch and seeing the perfect ring from conception all the way to delivery to the perfect girl.

Mid-way through planning, Marcus decided that he wanted to propose to Ali during their upcoming vacation to Hawaii. He had the idea of proposing on top of the clouds at Haleakala Mountain, an active volcano in Maui known for its stunning views, epic sunrises and freezing temperatures. Due to a packed shooting schedule, we were unable to make the trip to document their actual engagement, but we knew we absolutely had to have it on film. So, we contacted Ohana Films who made the trip up the mountain pretending to be a tourist and captured this truly special moment in Ali and Marcus’ life.

Ali & Marcus, congratulations on your engagement! We are so honored to be a part of this exciting time in your lives and can’t wait to continue telling your story!
